Background - Jacob
Jacob Edward Lear was born in Seaside, Oregon on February 17, 1984 to his parents Lonnie and Annette Lear. Jacob has one sibling Alanna Marie Lear who is one and a half years younger than him. Jacob was raised in Seaside and attended Seaside public schools until he was sixteen at which time he dropped out and got his GED. After getting his GED Jacob enrolled in college (he was still sixteen at this point) and attended Clatsop Community College for two years. He joined the National Scholars Honor Society and the invite-only honor society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) while there. He was elected Treasurer of the Pi Phi chapter of PTK for his second year. He was also nominated as Student Scholar of the college for his second year. He graduated in June 2002 with High Honors with an Associate degree in General Studies. That fall Jacob transfered to Southern Oregon University (SOU) where he planned to double-major in Business and Computer Science. At the start of his second year at SOU he was appointed Student Manager of the Stevenson Union Building Manager staff and given command of a staff of a dozen other students. At the end of fall term he switched his major to Computer Programming. That winter Jacob left for Australia where he studied abroad at Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria (near Melbourne) for five months. For his third and final year at SOU (fifth year of college) Jacob joined the invite-only honor society Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) and was again appointed Manager of the Stevenson Union Building Manager staff. He also received an award for being an Outstanding Computer Science Student from his professors. Jacob graduated from SOU in June of 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Magna Cum Laude honors. After graduation he got hired as a computer technician for the City of Central Point. He worked there for about a year and a half and then resigned due to personal differences with management. Following that he got a job for Brammo Motorsports, LLC as their IT guru, where he worked for a year and a half and resigned after receiving a much more favorable job offer from Clatsop Community College. So during the last week of May, 2008, he moved back to Seaside, OR and started his new job as the Database Administrator for Clatsop Community College. |
